EMSB Senate meets regularly to review the national picture with regard to the delivery of face to face EMSB courses in the context of restrictions relating to Covid-19. Covid-aware socially distanced courses are currently being held. All candidates who are booked onto a course will be informed when a place is available for them. The website will be opened for new bookings as soon as further places become available.

Candidate courses
This one day course is appropriate for medical and nursing practitioners working anywhere in the field of burn care, from members of the burns unit, to medical and nursing staff in isolated areas. The course commences at 7.30am with the first lecture at 8am and concludes at 6.10pm. Please note that late arriving candidates will not be admitted onto the course. This course has been awarded 7.5 consultant CPD points.
Instructor courses
Only candidates who have received a recommendation to be an Instructor following their EMSB Course are eligible to attend an EMSB Instructor course. These are run once a year. This course has been awarded 6 consultant CPD points.
Coordinator Courses
The Coordinator Course is open to Associate Coordinators only and replaces 1 of the 2 EMSB course requirements to become a full Coordinator. A nominal fee of £5 applies and the course is open to invited participants only. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ONTO THIS COURSE UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY THE BBA MANAGER.
Military EMSB courses
The Military Candidate course is specially designed for Armed Forces personnel (regular and reserve) however, military civil service and MOD employees may also attend. The course is normally held over two days, with the full standard EMSB course provided on the first day. The second day is focussed on team-working and comprises lectures on military aspects of burn management. There will be further exposure to moulage to include a scenario as well as information on the different roles within the Military such as ICU, Emergency Department, Theatre etc. The purpose of the second day is to consolidate learning and there is no assessment element. Overnight stay and messing is provided. Please state your gender in the Special Needs box on the application form to enable appropriate accommodation to be booked. Please note: Military personnel about to be deployed will be given priority on Military Candidate courses. If required, candidates not due for deployment may be removed and offered another course date.
On rare occasions, courses have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Please do not book your travel and accommodation until at least 4 weeks prior to the date of your course and take travel insurance cover in case of course cancellation.
